Spend Summer at Seaside Commons

Every summer, Japan’s beaches come alive with umi no ie—temporary beach houses where visitors can relax, eat, and enjoy the seaside. This year, through August 16, 2026, Seaside Commons brings an international twist to that tradition, transforming Tarui Southern Beach at SENNAN LONG PARK into a month-long gathering place filled with global food, shopping, music, and culture.

Created by the team behind Commons Festival, Seaside Commons extends the spirit of the festival beyond a single weekend. Rather than bringing everyone together for just a few days, it creates a summer home where many of the same international vendors, cultural organizations, and communities return throughout the season. The experience unfolds over 29 days, with rotating food vendors and artisan shops representing countries from around the world, giving visitors a reason to return again and again as the beach and community continue to evolve. Seaside Commons also participates in the EXPO FOOD PASSPORT program, encouraging visitors to continue exploring the international flavors and friendships first discovered during Expo 2025.

Food is at the heart of the experience. Vendors serve authentic dishes inspired by countries represented at Expo 2025, alongside international drinks and sweets that change throughout the season. Whether you’re trying Egyptian koshari, freshly baked cheese naan,

West African jollof rice, refreshing hibiscus juice, creamy mango lassi, or another specialty you’ve never tasted before, every visit offers the opportunity to discover something new. Many participating vendors are established restaurants and businesses, while others first introduced their cuisine and culture through the international pavilions of Expo 2025.

Beyond the food, Seaside Commons encourages visitors to slow down and enjoy the beach. Browse artisan markets and international goods, relax with a cold drink, listen to live performances on selected days, or simply spend the afternoon beside Osaka Bay before watching the sunset. Tarui Southern Beach is one of Osaka’s most family-friendly swimming beaches, and with showers, parking, nearby cafés, hot springs, and even dog-friendly areas within SENNAN LONG PARK, it’s easy to turn a visit into a full summer day by the sea.
