MONTHLY GUIDE
May 2026
Big Events and Easy Days
Golden Week fades and Osaka settles into its most comfortable rhythm of the year — warm days, cooler nights, and a calendar packed with craft beer festivals, food events, major concerts, and riverside fireworks. It’s the moment the city shifts outdoors and becomes easy to enjoy.
Golden Week energy spills into the start of May, but Osaka doesn’t slow down once the holidays end — it shifts. What begins with packed parks, festivals, and day trips gradually opens into a more relaxed, early-summer rhythm. The crowds ease just enough, the weather settles, and the city becomes easier to move through again.
This is one of Osaka’s most comfortable months. Warm days, cooler evenings, and long daylight hours make it ideal for exploring — whether that’s walking along the river, heading out to Expo ’70 Commemorative Park, or staying central and moving between neighborhoods on foot. It’s also when outdoor culture really starts to take over, without the humidity that defines the months ahead.
Craft beer season is in full swing, with events like Belgian Beer Weekend Osaka, Craft Beer Live, and Beer Bravo! pouring across the city. Food festivals return in force as Gyoza Festival Osaka kicks off another run, while pop-up events like the Ultraman Exhibition add a fun, nostalgic touch to the city.
It’s also a big month for live entertainment. One of the year’s biggest moments in Japanese music arrives as Arashi’s farewell concert makes its Osaka stop, anchoring a packed schedule of performances across the city. At the same time, cultural programming expands through exhibitions and seasonal showcases across Osaka’s museums and galleries.
May is when the city stretches out, settles in, and gives you room to actually enjoy it.
