Food Meets Reggae at Zumzum Kitchencar Fes

Kitchen cars & live reggae blast through Ōizumi Ryokuchi in Sakai

Come hungry and stay for the reggae. ZUMZUM KITCHENCAR FES fills the lawns of Ōizumi Ryokuchi with kitchen cars and free live music, using a day of food in the park as an invitation into the sound and energy of Japanese reggae culture.

Zumzum Kitchencar Fes 2026 PosterThe kitchen cars may get you there, but ZUMZUM hopes the reggae keeps you around. ZUMZUM KITCHENCAR FES returns to Ōizumi Ryokuchi in Sakai on October 3 for a free afternoon built around two easy pleasures: finding something good to eat and discovering what happens when RED SPIDER rolls its massive K-3756s sound system onto the Great Lawn. Kitchen cars open at 11:00, the music starts at 11:30 and the festival runs until 17:00.

RED SPIDER leads the 2026 lineup alongside APOLLO, RAY, KENTY GROSS, NATURAL WEAPON, TAK-Z and REKID. RED SPIDER is no stranger to big Osaka crowds — his 2023 solo show at Maishima drew 18,000 people. He is currently in the middle of a 60-show national tour that returns to Osaka for its finale at Zepp Osaka Bayside on December 30, but at ZUMZUM you can experience his sound system for free. The centerpiece isn’t simply a concert stage. RED SPIDER’s sound system is part of the attraction, bringing the scale and physical impact of reggae sound-system culture out of the usual concert environment and into the enormous lawn of a public park.

Food makes that experience approachable. Kitchen cars turn the lawn into a place where visitors can grab lunch, spread out and encounter the music without committing to a conventional ticketed festival. General admission is completely free, so coming for the food and discovering the reggae along the way isn’t incidental — it’s part of the idea behind ZUMZUM.

RED SPIDER performs before a large crowd at ZUMZUM KITCHENCAR FES in Osaka.RED SPIDER Junior has described the festival as an entry point to reggae. Visitors might arrive because they want something to eat or an afternoon with the family, then find themselves experiencing the music once they’re there. Putting a serious sound system in a free public space gives people who might never buy a reggae concert ticket the chance to discover the culture for themselves.

That idea began at Ōizumi Ryokuchi in April 2024, when RED SPIDER and KAERU STUDIO MUSIC launched the first ZUMZUM event. The concept subsequently traveled to public spaces in Misaki, Kobe and Tokoname before returning to Sakai in September 2025. Organizers say the first two Ōizumi Ryokuchi editions each attracted around 20,000 visitors.

Now ZUMZUM returns for its third outing in the park where it started. Come specifically for the artists, work your way through the kitchen cars or simply spread out on the lawn and let the sound system find you.

Come hungry and stay for the reggae.

RED SPIDER leads the live program with APOLLO, RAY, KENTY GROSS, NATURAL WEAPON, TAK-Z and REKID. Individual artist set times and a running order have not yet been announced.

The organizers note that there will be brief pauses in the music during the event because Ōizumi Ryokuchi is a public park.

The festival is scheduled to proceed in rain and will be cancelled only in severe weather. If cancellation is necessary, the organizer says it will be announced on KAERU STUDIO’s X account by 11:00 on the day.

TICKETS

General Admission: Free
Advance Ticket: Not required

Visitors can enter the festival and enjoy the general viewing areas without buying a ticket or making an advance reservation.

Food and drinks from the kitchen cars are purchased separately.

THE EXPERIENCE

ZUMZUM combines a kitchen-car festival with a full-scale outdoor reggae experience on Ōizumi Ryokuchi’s Great Lawn.

  • Eat your way through a lineup of kitchen cars.
  • Hear RED SPIDER’s K-3756s sound system outdoors.
  • Catch a full lineup of Japanese reggae performers.
  • Spread out on the lawn between sets.
  • Drop in without committing to a conventional ticketed music festival.

The food is deliberately part of the invitation. ZUMZUM was created to introduce reggae and sound-system culture to people who might come to the park for food or a family day out rather than specifically for a reggae show.

INFO & TIPS

Bring a leisure sheet. Designated areas of the Great Lawn allow leisure sheets and chairs, making ZUMZUM easy to approach as an afternoon in the park rather than a stand-all-day concert.

Outside food and drinks are permitted, although trying the kitchen cars is obviously a major part of the event.

Expect significant crowds. Previous Ōizumi Ryokuchi editions have drawn around 20,000 visitors, so arriving earlier in the day should make settling into the lawn easier.

The festival is scheduled to take place in rain. Severe weather can cause cancellation, so check for updates before traveling to Sakai if conditions are poor.
