Osaka’s Autumn Art & Handmade Bazaar

Each autumn, Osaka’s waterfront becomes a showcase for original artwork, handcrafted gifts and one-of-a-kind creations made by independent artists from across Japan. The OSAKA Art & Handmade Bazaar transforms ATC Hall into a vibrant marketplace where every booth tells a different story, inviting visitors to discover original work while meeting the people who created it.

The next edition, OSAKA Art & Handmade Bazaar VOL.52, takes place 19–22 September 2026 during Japan’s Silver Week holiday at ATC Hall & Special Hall 2 in Osaka Nanko. Marking the event’s first four-day Silver Week edition in 11 years, more than 800 independent artists and makers from across Japan will showcase their work across two exhibition halls, featuring original ceramics, jewellery, fashion, leathercraft, woodworking, glass art, stationery, textiles and countless other handmade creations. Rotating craft workshops, specialty food and sweets vendors, and opportunities to meet the artists behind their work add even more reasons to spend the day exploring one of Kansai’s largest celebrations of independent creativity.

Every exhibitor is the creator of the work on display. Instead of browsing anonymous retail booths, visitors can speak directly with painters, ceramicists, woodworkers, jewellery designers, leather artisans, illustrators and textile artists about their techniques, inspiration and creative process. Every purchase comes with the story of the artist who created it, creating a personal connection that simply can’t be found in a conventional shop.

Spread across two exhibition halls, this isn’t a market you rush through. Many visitors spend an entire afternoon wandering from booth to booth, discovering emerging artists alongside established favourites, watching craftsmanship up close and finding handmade pieces that simply aren’t available anywhere else. Because the lineup changes with each edition, returning visitors know there’s always something new to discover, making exploration every bit as rewarding as the shopping itself.

Held three times each year at Osaka’s waterfront ATC complex, the OSAKA Art & Handmade Bazaar has grown into one of western Japan’s premier showcases for independent artists and makers. Each edition brings together returning favourites, first-time exhibitors and new creative discoveries, ensuring that no two visits are ever quite the same while celebrating the originality, craftsmanship and creative spirit that continue to define Japan’s handmade culture.
