Osaka’s Giant Outdoor Treasure Hunt

Hundreds of Sellers Fill Expo ’70 Park

Search hundreds of stalls for vintage fashion, nostalgic collectibles, handmade goods and unexpected bargains as the recurring Banpaku Garage Sale transforms Expo ’70 Commemorative Park into a giant outdoor treasure hunt.

Screenshot

Every stall holds a question: what will you find? Hundreds of sellers turn Expo ’70 Commemorative Park into a giant outdoor treasure hunt, filling the market with vintage fashion, nostalgic collectibles, secondhand bargains and unexpected discoveries. With the merchandise changing every time the Garage Sale returns, searching is as much a part of the experience as buying.

The next Expo Garage Sale takes place October 18, 2026, when about 400 booths fill Festival Plaza from 9:30–16:30. This edition uses the event’s vehicle and hand-carried sales format, bringing together sellers with everything from vintage clothing and collectibles to books, household goods, handmade pieces and whatever else arrives with them on the day.

Every visit offers something different. One stall may feature carefully curated antiques while the next is filled with handmade crafts, vintage cameras, collectible toys or forgotten treasures waiting for a second life. Bargaining is part of the experience, and many visitors arrive hoping to uncover something they never expected to find.

More than just a flea market, the Expo Garage Sale is also an excuse to spend a relaxing day at Expo ’70 Commemorative Park. Wander between hundreds of stalls, enjoy the spacious park setting and take a break at one of the park’s cafés or restaurants before heading back for another round of treasure hunting. Some visitors leave with vintage finds, while others simply enjoy the excitement of never knowing what they’ll discover next.

The Garage Sale returns to Expo ’70 Commemorative Park numerous times throughout the year, but not on a fixed monthly schedule. Editions can also shift between Festival Plaza and East Plaza, changing both the setting and the number of participating booths. With returning sellers, first-time vendors and thousands of individual items passing through the market, no two visits are quite the same.

Hundreds of Sellers – Browse approximately 400–500 booths depending on the edition and venue.

Treasure Hunting – Search for vintage fashion, collectibles, books, handmade pieces and unexpected secondhand finds.

Never the Same Market Twice – Changing sellers and merchandise give every edition a different mix of discoveries.

Bargaining Welcome – Talk directly with sellers and try your hand at negotiating for a favorite find.

A Day at Expo Park – Combine the market with green spaces, cafés and other attractions around Expo ’70 Commemorative Park.

INFO & TIPS

Banpaku Garage Sale takes place outdoors at Expo ’70 Commemorative Park. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, particularly if you plan to explore the park or combine the Garage Sale with other park attractions.

Weather
The Garage Sale is scheduled to proceed in light rain. If conditions force a cancellation, the Japan Garage Sale Association posts updates through its official website and official LINE account. Check before traveling when the forecast is uncertain.

Shopping
Merchandise varies considerably between sellers and editions. Bring cash as a precaution, since individual vendors may have different payment options. Bargaining may be possible with individual sellers, but prices and payment methods are determined by each vendor.

Re-entry
The Garage Sale’s admission wristband or stamp applies only to the Garage Sale venue and does not provide re-entry to Expo ’70 Commemorative Park. Keep the park’s separate admission rules in mind if leaving during your visit.

Food & Breaks
Expo ’70 Commemorative Park has cafés, restaurants and other places to take a break. Food availability immediately around the Garage Sale may vary by edition, so the park’s permanent facilities are the more reliable option.

Parking
Paid parking is available at Expo ’70 Commemorative Park. Parking can become busy during events, so public transportation via Osaka Monorail is a convenient alternative.
