Lights, Music and Holiday Flavors in Nakanoshima

Hikari Marche & Holiday Concerts Bring Festive Cheer to Osaka’s Waterfront

Warm festival food, live music and sparkling illuminations turn Nakanoshima into a festive winter destination, with holiday performances and seasonal flavors throughout December.

The sound of live music fills the winter air as the aroma of freshly prepared festival food drifts through Nakanoshima’s illuminated streets. Along Osaka’s historic waterfront, two festive attractions bring together the essential ingredients of a memorable holiday evening: delicious food, live music and a little Christmas magic.

Running December 11–25 as part of OSAKA Hikari Renaissance 2026, Hikari Marche and Hikari no Concert offer two ways to experience the city’s December festivities. Hikari Marche brings seasonal food and drinks to the area around Osaka Central Public Hall, while Hikari no Concert presents live performances at Osaka City Hall. Together, they invite visitors to wander between historic architecture, glowing streets and the sounds of the season.

At Hikari Marche, festival stalls offer a welcome opportunity to warm up between attractions. The market’s planned selection of more than 30 vendors promises a lively gathering place, with seasonal dishes and drinks adding flavor to an evening of sightseeing. Whether stopping for a quick snack or lingering over something hot, visitors can enjoy the atmosphere before heading toward the next illuminated landmark.

Music provides the other half of the experience. Hikari no Concert brings choirs, student ensembles and community performers into the heart of the festivities, celebrating Osaka’s local musical talent. The 2026 program is planned to accommodate up to 60 performances, with FM802 radio personalities involved in presenting the concerts. The individual performer lineup remains to be announced.

The setting is as much a part of the attraction as the food and music. Nakanoshima’s waterways, bridges and architectural landmarks provide a distinctive backdrop, while the surrounding illuminations transform the district after dark. Nearby, the spectacular Central Public Hall Projection Mapping brings animated Christmas scenes to the historic building’s façade, adding another reason to explore the neighborhood.

Hikari Marche and Hikari no Concert also reflect the community spirit behind OSAKA Hikari Renaissance. Rather than simply watching the lights, visitors can gather around food stalls, discover local performers and share an evening in one of Osaka’s most atmospheric districts.

With seasonal flavors, live performances and illuminated waterfront scenery, the two programs turn a winter walk through Nakanoshima into a festive evening out.

Holiday Flavors – Enjoy seasonal food and warming drinks at Hikari Marche’s festive stalls.

Live Music – Discover choirs, student ensembles and community musicians performing at Osaka City Hall.

Festive Market – Explore more than 30 planned food vendors near Central Public Hall.

Riverside Lights – Stroll between illuminated landmarks, glowing trees and sparkling waterways.

Christmas Magic – Combine food and music with Central Public Hall’s spectacular projection mapping.
