Go behind the flames of Fire Force as original manga artwork, newly drawn illustrations, and exclusive goods arrive in the heart of Osaka’s anime district.
Before Fire Force became an anime filled with blazing battles, supernatural flames, and the heroes of Special Fire Force Company 8 in motion, it began with ink on a page.
This summer, Osaka fans can return to those origins at the Fire Force Original Art Exhibition, opening August 28 at Space Gratus in Nipponbashi. The exhibition puts the focus on manga creator Atsushi Ohkubo and the artwork behind the series, offering a chance to look beyond the finished anime and get closer to the drawings and visual storytelling that created its world.
For fans accustomed to seeing Shinra Kusakabe and Company 8 racing across a screen, original manga artwork offers a very different experience. Details that disappear in an instant during animation can be examined at your own pace, from Ohkubo’s character work and expressive faces to the dramatic compositions that give Fire Force its distinctive energy.
The timing feels especially appropriate. Ohkubo completed the Fire Force manga in 2022, bringing Shinra’s story to an end after seven years of serialization, while the anime’s third and final season has returned the series to the spotlight. The exhibition arrives at a moment when fans can both revisit where the story began and celebrate the completed work as a whole.
The exhibition runs for a full month, from August 28 through September 28. Paid visitors receive a randomly selected mini shikishi featuring newly drawn artwork by Ohkubo while supplies last, and a special ticket package includes an 8th Special Fire Brigade emblem medal. The exhibition shop adds merchandise ranging from acrylic stands and replica manga pages to reproduction artwork, with new items introduced for the Osaka run.
Opening weekend adds a little urgency. August 28–30 uses timed admission, with advance tickets currently available from ¥2,000. From August 31, advance tickets can be used once on any day through the exhibition’s September 28 finale, making the show considerably easier to work into an afternoon in Nipponbashi.
And that location couldn’t be more fitting. Space Gratus sits inside the Animate Osaka Nipponbashi Annex, surrounded by the manga shops, figure stores, arcades, maid cafés, electronics stores, and pop-culture overload of Den Den Town. See the exhibition, browse Animate, hunt for collectibles, then disappear into the neighborhood for the rest of the afternoon.
For Fire Force fans, it’s a chance to step away from the screen and get closer to the hand that started it all—one drawing, one character, and one flame at a time.

The exhibition is in Nipponbashi’s Den Den Town, within easy walking distance of both Namba and Nipponbashi stations.
- Osaka Metro Sakaisuji & Sennichimae Lines: Nipponbashi Station → Exit 5 → approximately 10 minutes on foot
- Kintetsu Namba Line: Kintetsu-Nippombashi Station → Exit 5 → approximately 10 minutes on foot
- Osaka Metro Midosuji Line: Namba Station → approximately 10–15 minutes on foot
- Nankai Lines: Namba Station → South Exit → approximately 10 minutes on foot
The Nankai Namba route is particularly convenient for approaching the exhibition through Den Den Town.

Opening weekend has special entry procedures, so visitors attending August 28–30 should book and check their designated admission time in advance.

August 28–30 uses timed admission, with advance tickets sold for specific entry periods. From August 31, advance tickets can be used once on any day through September 28 rather than requiring a specific time slot.
Opening-weekend same-day tickets are offered only if capacity remains. Advance tickets are available through ePlus.

- Nipponbashi: Animate, manga and figure stores, arcades, and Den Den Town are all nearby, making the exhibition easy to build into a longer pop-culture afternoon.
