July 2026

Fireworks, festivals, and full summer energy

July in Osaka brings Tenjin Matsuri, fireworks, and full summer heat, with festivals and hot nights across the city.

July in Osaka arrives with full summer intensity — heat, humidity, and a calendar shaped by some of the city’s biggest annual traditions. Long, hot days give way to warm, active nights, as much of the city embraces the outdoors despite the rising temperatures.

The month is anchored by the Tenjin Matsuri, one of Japan’s most celebrated festivals, culminating in a riverside fireworks display along the Okawa. It’s a day that builds from ceremony to spectacle, drawing crowds across the city and setting the tone for the rest of the month.

From there, summer nights begin to revolve around fireworks. In addition to Tenjin Matsuri, displays such as the Kishiwada Port Festival Fireworks and Senshu Dream Fireworks bring people out after dark, gathering along rivers, waterfronts, and open spaces as the city settles into its evening rhythm.

July is also a major month for live entertainment and large-scale events, with the 10th anniversary of the GIGA summer music festival and the launch of Kazuya Kamenashis live tour right here in Osaka.

July in Osaka is not subtle. It’s loud, crowded, humid, and unforgettable — a full expression of summer in the city, where the nights become just as important as the days.
