KREVA Takes Osaka to Rap School!
Japanese hip-hop pioneer KREVA brings KREVA CLASS 2026 to Osaka’s Sankei Hall Breezé. Discover a playful theatrical production combining live rap, comedy, dance and the art of Japanese wordplay.

What happens when one of Japan’s most celebrated rappers turns the art of hip-hop into a classroom? The answer is KREVA CLASS 2026, an inventive theatrical production that brings music, comedy and Japanese wordplay to Sankei Hall Breezé in Nishi-Umeda for five performances from November 13–15, 2026. Forget textbooks and conventional lectures. This is rap school with one of Japan’s finest MCs at the front of the class.
KREVA is no ordinary teacher. Before establishing himself as a solo artist, he won Japan’s prestigious B BOY PARK MC battle championship three consecutive times, from 1999 to 2001. He subsequently helped bring Japanese hip-hop into the mainstream as a member of KICK THE CAN CREW, whose success included an appearance on NHK’s Kōhaku Uta Gassen in 2002. His 2006 solo album Ai Jibunhaku made history by becoming the first Japanese hip-hop solo album to debut at No. 1 on Oricon’s weekly album chart.
But KREVA CLASS is about more than celebrating a remarkable career. Created with writer and director Kentaro Kobayashi, the production explores the possibilities of Japanese-language rap through theatrical storytelling, humor and live performance. Kobayashi, known for his inventive stage comedy and meticulous wordplay, brings a complementary creative sensibility to KREVA’s command of rhythm and rhyme.
The production first appeared in 2024 and returns with a cast that includes pantomime performers GABEZ and DJ Goro Kumai. Together, they explore rap as both music and a form of linguistic creativity, revealing how rhythm, language and performance can transform everyday words into something extraordinary.
The Osaka setting adds another dimension. Sankei Hall Breezé seats just 912 people, offering a remarkably intimate environment for an artist whose career has included major arena performances. Rather than watching from the far reaches of a vast concert hall, audiences can experience the interplay between performers, words and music in a theater designed for close attention.
For longtime hip-hop fans, KREVA CLASS offers an unusual perspective on a familiar artist. For newcomers, it promises an entertaining introduction to the creativity behind Japanese rap. Either way, school has rarely sounded this good.
