As Osaka’s long summer begins to ease, the beer garden returns to Tenshiba. Tenshiba Oktoberfest 2026 takes over the Tennoji Park lawn from September 11 through October 4, bringing nearly a month of German beer, festival food, live entertainment and World Wine Fest to one of the city’s most relaxed outdoor gathering spaces.
The inspiration comes directly from Germany. Munich’s Oktoberfest has turned communal tables, overflowing beer steins, hearty food and music into one of the world’s great drinking traditions, and Tenshiba recreates some of that spirit in the middle of Osaka. Past editions have featured internationally recognized German breweries including Paulaner, Erdinger, Löwenbräu, Hofbräu München and Franziskaner, pouring everything from crisp pilsners and wheat beers to darker lagers and seasonal specialties. The official 2026 brewery lineup will be announced closer to opening.
This autumn, beer shares the lawn with World Wine Fest, bringing another dimension to the month-long celebration. Previous editions have assembled dozens of wines from countries including France, Italy and Spain, accompanied by cheese, specialty dishes and other wine-friendly food. The exact 2026 wine lineup is still to come, but organizers have confirmed that wine shops will return as part of this year’s festival.
Tenshiba’s Oktoberfest tradition dates back to 2018, when the event debuted as part of the park’s third-anniversary celebrations. Today, it provides a natural seasonal counterpart to the Frühlingsfest held here around Golden Week. One welcomes Osaka into the outdoor beer season; the other brings the German beer garden back as summer begins to loosen its grip. Together, they’ve turned the Tenshiba lawn into a recurring home for German-style beer culture in the heart of Tennoji.
Food is every bit as important as what’s in the glass. Previous Tenshiba editions have served bratwurst, currywurst, schnitzel, pretzels, roasted pork knuckle, German-style sausages and grilled meats alongside sweets and festival snacks. Add World Wine Fest and the selection stretches beyond the traditional beer-hall menu, making it just as easy to build an afternoon around eating as drinking.
The setting is part of what makes the event work. Tenshiba sits directly outside Tennoji Station, with the lawn opening beneath Abeno Harukas and the city skyline. September in Osaka still feels more like late summer than autumn, so expect warm afternoons that gradually give way to more comfortable evenings as the festival moves toward October. With free admission, visitors can stop in for one drink, meet friends after work or settle around a table for an entire afternoon.

How much does Tenshiba Oktoberfest cost?
Admission: Free
No advance admission ticket or reservation is required. Visitors purchase beer, wine, food and other drinks individually inside the festival.
Beer Prices: The 2026 Tenshiba menu has not yet been released. Based on current Japanese Oktoberfest pricing, expect standard German draft beers to cost approximately ¥1,100–¥1,300 for 300ml and ¥1,500–¥1,600 for 500ml, with larger 1-liter servings typically around ¥2,800–¥3,200.
Individual prices vary by brewery, beer and serving size.

What should visitors know before attending Tenshiba Oktoberfest?
Admission is free, so visitors can enter the festival without purchasing an advance ticket or making a reservation. Food and drinks are purchased separately.
Weekends and holidays are the liveliest times to visit, with MARIA & Alpenbuam performing at 12:00, 15:00, 17:00 and 19:00. Weekday afternoons and early evenings should offer a more relaxed beer-garden experience.
September in Osaka can still be hot and humid, particularly during the first half of the festival. The weather generally becomes more comfortable toward late September and early October, but much of the event is outdoors, so check conditions before visiting.
World Wine Fest runs alongside Oktoberfest, making this more than a beer-only event. European wines, cocktails and non-alcoholic options broaden the drink selection.
