Calling all cheese lovers—Cheese EXPO returns to Expo ’70 Park for two delicious days of pizzas, pastas, specialty cheeses and cheesy creations from vendors gathered for one of Japan’s largest cheese festivals.
Cheese lovers, mark your calendars! The 8th Cheese EXPO returns to Expo ’70 Commemorative Park on November 14–15, 2026, bringing two days devoted to all things rich, gooey, melty and delicious. This event invites you to explore, taste, and celebrate cheese in all forms. Whether you’re from France, Italy, the Netherlands… or the good ol’ US of A (where cheese is practically a food group), this is your kind of party. Taste your way through specialty cheeses, discover passionate makers, and let your inner cheese geek wander free.
Held at the park’s East Plaza, the festival gathers cheese dishes and specialty products in one sprawling outdoor celebration—and yes, the smell alone may be enough to lead you there.
The heart of Cheese EXPO is the food. Vendors serve cheese-loaded dishes ranging from pizza and pasta to burgers, gratins, curries, sweets and other creative combinations, while specialty booths offer cheeses and cheese products to take home. The festival has grown into one of Japan’s largest celebrations devoted to cheese, making it a chance to move well beyond the supermarket aisle and discover just how many ways cheese can find its way onto a plate.
Cheese EXPO brings together artisan cheese makers, specialty importers and cheese professionals, with booths showcasing everything from award-winning Japanese cheeses to varieties from around the world. It’s a deft blend of education and indulgence, where curious beginners can discover what makes one cheese different from another—and dedicated cheese geeks can happily go down the rabbit hole.
The festival atmosphere extends beyond the food, with the 16th Hokusetsu Jikara Festa bringing local businesses and products from northern Osaka into the mix. The 6th Oimo EXPO also takes place alongside Cheese EXPO, filling East Plaza with sweet potato dishes and treats—and the same ¥500 event admission covers both festivals. Expo ’70 Park also gives you plenty of room to make a day of it: grab something cheesy, explore the park, then come back and decide there’s probably room for one more.
Come hungry and take your time. Part of the fun is wandering the East Plaza, comparing dishes and sharing different finds rather than committing to just one meal. And with the Tower of the Sun nearby and plates of photogenic cheese everywhere, there’s really only one thing left to do:

From the station, enter Expo ’70 Park and follow signs toward East Plaza.
Subways
Metro Midosuji Line → Senri-Chuo Station ↔ Osaka Monorail → Bampaku-kinen-koen Station
This is the simplest subway connection from central Osaka.

From Namba — about 50–60 minutes
Take the Metro Midosuji Line to Senri-Chuo ↔ Osaka Monorail to Bampaku-kinen-koen Station.
From Osaka/Umeda — about 40–50 minutes
Take the Metro Midosuji Line from Umeda to Senri-Chuo ↔ Osaka Monorail to Bampaku-kinen-koen Station.
Expo ’70 Park is large, so allow additional walking time from the entrance to East Plaza.

Come Early & Hungry
Food and products are available while supplies last. Popular items may sell out, so earlier in the day is better if there is something you particularly want to try.
Bring a Picnic Sheet
Tables and chairs are provided in the eating area, but seating is limited. The organizer specifically recommends bringing a leisure/picnic sheet so you have somewhere to sit if the tables fill up.
Share Your Finds
Cheese EXPO is particularly well suited to sharing dishes. Going with friends makes it easier to sample several vendors rather than filling up on the first cheesy thing that catches your eye.
Alcohol
Visitors arriving by car or bicycle are asked not to drink alcohol at the event.
Weather
The event proceeds in light rain but may be canceled in severe weather. Check the official site before traveling if conditions are poor.
Park Rules
Expo ’70 Park’s regular rules regarding pets, bicycles and other park use also apply during Cheese EXPO.
