Sennan Oyster Festival

Briny Season on the Bay

Teaser: Charcoal grills, cracked shells, and cold beer in open sea air. The Sennan Oyster Festival, held on Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese public holidays during the winter, brings regional oysters to the waterfront. It offers a taste of the last indulgence before sakura season begins.

For a limited winter stretch along Osaka Bay, SENNAN LONG PARK’s Umi no Marche becomes a briny open-air feast. The Sennan Oyster Festival runs weekends and public holidays from January 10 through March 29, 2026, transforming the coastal park into a hands-on seafood celebration.

This event centers squarely on oysters — grilled over charcoal, steamed kankan-yaki style in tins, or served in curated set meals. Vendors source oysters from multiple regions across Japan, often including Hiroshima and Hyogo, giving visitors a chance to compare regional differences side by side.

Guests purchase trays and cook oysters at shared grill stations, turning the meal into an interactive ritual. Steam rises into open sky while cups clink against oyster shells, and select dates may add extra festival flavor such as stage performances or local sake tasting booths (programs vary by day).

Located near Kansai International Airport, it’s an easy add-on for travelers staying near the bay or flying in for Kansai. For a broader coastal food day, you can also keep an eye on seasonal programming at SENNAN LONG PARK that sometimes runs on adjacent dates.

Live Grill Experience — Purchase trays and cook oysters yourself at shared charcoal stations.

Regional Sourcing — Oysters from multiple Japanese prefectures served side by side.

Coastal Atmosphere — Open-air waterfront setting along Osaka Bay.

Weekend-Only Series — Runs exclusively on weekends and holidays.

Sake Pairings — Select dates feature local sake sampling booths (when scheduled).
