Summer Evening Beer Cruise

A Summer Night on Osaka's Waterways

As the sun sets over Osaka, the Himawari sets sail for one of the city's most memorable summer evenings—combining river views, live music, unlimited drinks, and a leisurely cruise through the heart of the City of Water.

Some of Osaka’s best summer memories aren’t made at festivals on land—they’re made on the river.

From August 1 through September 12, 2026, the Himawari Summer Evening Beer Cruise returns to Hachikenyahama Pier in Tenmabashi, inviting guests aboard for a 90-minute sunset cruise through the city’s historic waterways. Operating on select Friday and Saturday evenings, the seasonal cruise pairs unlimited drinks, a gourmet hors d’oeuvre platter, and live music with ever-changing views of Osaka as day gives way to night.

The experience begins before the boat even leaves the dock. As passengers gather along the Okawa River, the city’s skyline glows in the warm light of early evening and reflections begin to dance across the water. Once underway, Osaka reveals itself from an entirely different perspective. Historic bridges, riverside promenades, and modern skyscrapers drift past while the breeze offers welcome relief from the summer heat—reminding visitors why Osaka has long been known as Japan’s “City of Water.”

On board, the atmosphere is relaxed rather than lively. A French-inspired hors d’oeuvre set prepared by Le Clos de Mariage accompanies unlimited draft beer, wine, highballs, soft drinks, and other beverages throughout the voyage. Live musicians perform intimate sets during the cruise, creating a soundtrack that feels perfectly matched to the gentle rhythm of the river rather than overpowering it.

As twilight deepens, the city’s lights begin to sparkle across the water, culminating with views of the OSAKA River Fantasy water-and-light presentation from the unique vantage point of the river itself. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, planning a summer date night, or simply looking for a different way to experience Osaka, few evenings capture the city’s character quite like watching it glide past from the deck of the Himawari.

Reservations are required, and sailings regularly sell out during the peak of summer. For visitors looking to slow down, enjoy the evening breeze, and experience Osaka beyond its busy streets, the Himawari Summer Evening Beer Cruise offers one of the season’s most relaxing—and most memorable—experiences.

Sunset River Cruise – Watch Osaka transform from golden hour to glittering city lights as you cruise its historic waterways.

Unlimited Drinks & Gourmet Bites – Relax with free-flowing beverages and a French-inspired hors d’oeuvre platter served throughout the cruise.

Live Music on the Water – Enjoy intimate live performances that create the perfect soundtrack for a summer evening afloat.

Osaka River Fantasy Views – Experience the spectacular Water & Light Show from the best seat in the city—right on the river.

One of Osaka’s Best Summer Date Nights – A refreshing escape from the summer heat that blends dining, sightseeing, and unforgettable waterfront scenery.
