Ghibli Park Exhibition
A new Haku sculpture, interactive movie scenes, Small Ghibli Park, and hands-on exhibits inspired by Studio Ghibli arrive at Osaka’s ATC Gallery this summer. Designed to be explored rather than simply observed, the Ghibli Park Exhibition offers one of Osaka’s most imaginative indoor experiences of the season.
This summer, Osaka visitors will have a rare opportunity to step inside the imaginative worlds that have captivated Studio Ghibli fans for generations. From July 18 through September 23, the Ghibli Park Exhibition arrives at ATC Gallery in Osaka Nanko, bringing interactive displays, recreated movie scenes, hands-on activities, and a newly unveiled Haku sculpture from Spirited Away to Kansai for a limited run.
The exhibition is designed as an experience to be explored rather than simply observed. The official theme invites guests to “look, touch, and explore,” creating a playful journey inspired by the ideas, creativity, and environments that helped shape Ghibli Park. Throughout the exhibition, visitors move between themed areas that combine models, artwork, interactive displays, and photo opportunities, making the experience appealing to families, longtime Studio Ghibli fans, and newcomers alike.
One of the exhibition’s headline attractions is a large three-dimensional sculpture of Haku, the mysterious dragon from Spirited Away. Making its debut as part of the exhibition, the installation serves as a centerpiece of the Osaka run and offers visitors a chance to encounter one of Studio Ghibli’s most beloved characters in a new way. Even for visitors familiar with the films, seeing characters and worlds translated into physical space provides a different perspective on the artistry behind Studio Ghibli’s storytelling.
The exhibition also features the popular “Become the Character” experience, where visitors can step into recreated scenes inspired by Studio Ghibli films and pose for photographs within them. Official preview images show installations inspired by films including Porco Rosso and When Marnie Was There, transforming memorable movie moments into interactive experiences. These playful photo opportunities encourage visitors to engage directly with the worlds of the films rather than simply viewing them from a distance.
Food plays a surprisingly important role throughout Studio Ghibli’s films, and the exhibition explores that connection through the “Food in Ghibli” section. Detailed displays, production materials, and three-dimensional recreations celebrate meals that have become almost as memorable as the characters themselves. From hearty breakfasts to elaborate feasts, the exhibit highlights how food contributes to the warmth, comfort, and sense of place that define so many Ghibli stories.
Another major attraction is “Small Ghibli Park,” an interactive area inspired by the real Ghibli Park in Aichi Prefecture. Visitors can move through playful installations, participate in hands-on activities, and explore miniature attractions designed to capture the spirit of the park itself. Combined with models, artwork, and behind-the-scenes materials, the exhibition offers a compact introduction to the creativity and imagination that continue to make Studio Ghibli beloved around the world.
Running throughout the summer at Osaka’s ATC Gallery, the Ghibli Park Exhibition offers one of the season’s most appealing indoor experiences. Whether you’re introducing children to Studio Ghibli for the first time, revisiting favorite films from years past, or simply looking for a unique escape from Osaka’s summer heat, the exhibition promises an experience filled with imagination, nostalgia, and discovery.
