The World Comes to Umekita

Bakushoku Onsai transforms Grand Green Osaka into an international celebration

A celebration of global cuisine, craft beer, live entertainment, and cultural exchange. With more than 50 countries and regions represented, this free three-day festival carries the spirit of Expo into the heart of the city.

Osaka’s international story doesn’t end when Expo closes its gates. This summer, Bakushoku Onsai Summer brings that spirit of global connection to Grand Green Osaka, inviting visitors to experience cultures from more than 50 countries and regions through food, craft beer, music, dance, shopping, and conversation. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Umekita Park beside Osaka Station, the festival offers one of the easiest—and most enjoyable—ways to travel the world without leaving the city.

The 2026 Summer Edition takes place July 10–12 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, transforming Roth Heart Square Umekita, Lawn Square, and Step Plaza into a lively international village. Throughout the three-day festival, visitors are encouraged to wander freely between international food stalls, craft beer tents, live music stages (see live band schedule below), dance performances, artisan markets, and cultural exhibits. One moment you might be sampling a regional specialty you’ve never tried before, the next watching a traditional performance, browsing handmade crafts, or relaxing with a locally brewed beer while live music fills the park. The experience is designed to reward curiosity, with every corner offering another country, another flavour, or another story waiting to be discovered.

The festival’s name reflects its four pillars: barley, food, music, and celebration. While craft beer remains an important part of the experience, Bakushoku Onsai Summer is much more than a beer festival. International street food, regional specialties, desserts, handcrafted goods, cultural displays, and family-friendly entertainment combine to create an event where every visit can unfold differently. Additional participating countries, breweries, food vendors, and stage performances are being announced by the organizers in the lead-up to the festival.

This summer’s move to Grand Green Osaka marks an exciting new chapter for the festival. Previous editions introduced visitors to international cultures at Expo ‘70 Commemorative Park. Now, by bringing the event directly beside Osaka Station, the organizers have created an international celebration that’s easier than ever to experience, whether you’re stopping by after work, spending the afternoon with family, or making it part of a weekend exploring Umeda.

Bakushoku Onsai Summer demonstrates how Osaka continues to build on the friendships and cultural exchange fostered during Expo. Rather than recreating the Expo experience, it creates something new—a welcoming public gathering where food, music, and conversation naturally bring people together from around the world.

Whether you arrive with friends for a craft beer, come searching for new cuisines, or simply want to soak up the atmosphere, Bakushoku Onsai Summer captures what makes modern Osaka so special. It’s a city where cultures meet naturally, conversations begin over shared meals, and a walk through the park can become a journey around the world.
