LOHAS Festa and Market
Japan’s leading eco-lifestyle festival returns to Expo ’70 Commemorative Park this autumn, blending handmade markets, eco-conscious living, and festival energy.
Every autumn, Osaka’s Expo ’70 Commemorative Park transforms into a vibrant celebration of sustainable living during LOHAS FESTA. Running over two weekends — October 31 to November 3 and November 8–9, 2025 — this beloved event invites visitors to explore a lively fusion of eco-friendly markets, creative workshops, and community activities beneath the crisp autumn skies.
LOHAS stands for “Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability,” and the festival is built around the theme ‘everyone’s small eco becomes a big voice.’ Since its inception in 2006, LOHAS FESTA has grown from a grassroots gathering in Osaka to a nationwide movement, spreading to Tokyo, Awaji Island, and beyond. But its spiritual home remains the East Plaza of Expo Park, where tens of thousands of visitors gather each year to live, learn, and celebrate sustainable culture.
More than just a marketplace, LOHAS FESTA blends shopping with discovery. Around 600 curated vendors set up tents showcasing handmade crafts, upcycled goods, organic foods, fair trade products, and vintage treasures. Strolling through the festival feels like wandering through a pop-up eco village — every booth tells a story about craft, creativity, and conscious living.
Entertainment and education intertwine seamlessly. Visitors can take part in hands-on eco workshops like candle-making or natural dyeing, join kids’ nature tours, listen to environmental talks, or enjoy live performances on the stage area. Kids are a big focus too: family-friendly zones offer playful ways to learn about the environment, from SDGs-themed scavenger hunts to eco art corners.
LOHAS FESTA isn’t just about browsing — it’s about participation. Guests are encouraged to bring their own plates, utensils, and bags, reinforcing the festival’s message of small everyday actions adding up to meaningful change. Recycling stations, eco installations, and waste collection zones are scattered throughout, turning the park into a living example of sustainable event design.
For those looking to experience a uniquely Japanese take on sustainability — equal parts warm community fair, design showcase, and eco carnival — LOHAS FESTA offers a vibrant and inspiring autumn outing.
