Nagai Park’s Sparkling Celestial Observation on the Lawn is an ongoing stargazing series that invites families, couples, and curious visitors to slow down, look up, and experience the night sky from one of Osaka’s largest urban parks. Each edition combines astronomy with the simple pleasure of enjoying an evening outdoors, making it one of Osaka’s most charming recurring community events.
The current edition, Sparkling Celestial Observation on the Lawn Vol. 14, takes place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Yanmar Field Nagai. The afternoon begins with a reservation-only telescope-making workshop from 16:00 to 18:00, giving children the opportunity to build their own telescope before putting it to use after sunset. Evening activities begin at 19:35 with a Moon Quiz, followed by telescope observation sessions from 19:40–20:15 and 20:20–20:55, along with large-screen astronomy presentations from 19:55–20:20 and 20:30–20:55. Most evening activities are free to attend, although some telescope viewing sessions require advance reservations due to limited capacity.
