For the most rewarding experience, begin your walk 30–60 minutes before sunset. This allows you to enjoy the forest in daylight before watching the park gradually transform as the evening illumination comes to life.
Don't Miss the Opening Night
The summer celebration begins one evening earlier with Minoh Candle Road on July 25 (19:00–21:00), when thousands of candles illuminate the park's pathways, temples, and public spaces. The waterfall itself is not illuminatedduring Candle Road, making the two events unique experiences that complement one another.

A visit to Summer Nights at Minoh Falls is as much about the journey as the destination. Arrive before sunset, take your time along the Takimichi Trail, and enjoy the changing atmosphere as daylight fades and the forest gradually comes to life.
- Plan 2–3 hours to comfortably enjoy the walk to the waterfall, spend time at the illumination, and return to Minoh Station.
- The Takimichi Trail is approximately 2.8 km (45 minutes each way). Wear comfortable walking shoes and allow extra time for photos and rest stops.
- Even in summer, the forest can feel noticeably cooler than central Osaka after sunset. A light layer can make the return walk more comfortable.
- The trail is paved and generally easy to walk, but take extra care on bridges and paths if they become wet after rain.
- Cafés, restaurants, and the famous momiji tempura shops are located near Minoh Station and along sections of the trail. Some businesses close before the illumination ends, so consider dining before or shortly after your walk.
