COMMONS
Global Festival

Global food, music and cultural exchange expo

Inspired by the same spirit of international discovery that captivated visitors during Expo 2025, COMMONS Festival returns to SENNAN LONG PARK for three days of international food, music, workshops, cultural exchange, and seaside community. Free to attend, this unique event brings together people, cultures, and conversations from around the world just south of Osaka.

If Expo 2025 left you wishing you had more time to explore the world, COMMONS Festival 2026 may be one of the most intriguing events of the summer. Returning to SENNAN LONG PARK from June 6–8, this free three-day gathering brings together food, crafts, music, workshops, and people from around the globe in a relaxed seaside setting just south of Osaka.

At first glance, it might look like a world food market. There will certainly be plenty to eat, from Indian biryani and tropical drinks to Egyptian specialties and Ugandan coffee. But COMMONS Festival is about much more than food. The event’s name reflects the idea that people can learn, laugh, and build connections together, and the organizers have created something that feels closer to a cultural exchange gathering than a traditional festival.

That international spirit is visible throughout the event. Vendor introductions feature participants from countries including India, Egypt, Jordan, Uganda, Laos, Nepal, the Philippines, and Gambia, with many booths run by people eager to share their culture, stories, and traditions. Rather than simply sampling food and moving on, visitors are encouraged to meet the people behind the stalls and discover perspectives from around the world.

Visitors who spent time exploring the Commons pavilions during Expo 2025 may find a familiar atmosphere here. The organizers frequently reference friendships, cultural exchanges, and international connections that grew through events such as Expo 2005 in Aichi and Expo 2025 in Osaka. Some participating vendors are even bringing back dishes that proved popular during Expo 2025, offering visitors a chance to revisit flavors they first discovered during the World Expo.

The setting only adds to the appeal. Held at SENNAN LONG PARK beside Osaka Bay, the festival unfolds among palm-lined walkways, open lawns, and waterfront views. Families can spend the day exploring workshops and performances, food lovers can sample dishes rarely found together at a single event, and curious visitors can discover cultures that seldom receive dedicated festivals in Kansai. It is a refreshing contrast to the crowds of central Osaka and a perfect excuse to explore one of Osaka Prefecture’s most scenic coastal destinations.

Opening day begins with a collaborative calligraphy performance by Kaede Shodo and Sennan Taiko Juku at 11:30am. Throughout the weekend, visitors can browse international markets, enjoy cultural exhibits, sample food and drinks from around the world, and participate in workshops designed to encourage interaction and discovery. The atmosphere is intentionally welcoming, with the focus placed not only on what people bring to the festival, but on the conversations and friendships that emerge from it.

Part cultural festival, part community gathering, and part international marketplace, COMMONS Festival 2026 captures the same sense of curiosity and human connection that made Expo 2025 memorable for so many visitors. For three days by the sea, the world comes together again in Sennan.

Expo Spirit Lives On – Experience the international atmosphere that inspired so many visitors during Expo 2025.

Meet the World – Discover cultures, stories, and traditions from countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

Global Flavors Return – Enjoy international food, including dishes that previously appeared during Expo 2025.

By the Bay – Spend the day exploring a waterfront festival at SENNAN LONG PARK.

More Than a Market – Workshops, performances, and cultural exchange make this far more than a food festival.
