Jazz Takes Over the City Streets
Just 15 minutes from Osaka, Takatsuki transforms into a walkable, music-filled city where more than 50 venues host live performances from morning into the night—completely free.

Just outside Osaka, the city of Takatsuki transforms into a living stage each Golden Week. On May 3 and 4, 2026, Takatsuki Jazz Street returns, turning everyday spaces—cafés, bars, public facilities, and open-air corners—into a network of more than 50 live music venues. With free admission across the entire festival, it stands as one of the most accessible and expansive music events in the Kansai region.
Rather than centering around a single stage, the festival spreads across the city itself. Performances begin from 10:00 AM and continue into the evening, with each venue operating independently on its own timetable. Detailed schedules are published per location, allowing visitors to either plan ahead or simply follow the sound as they move between performances.
The experience takes shape immediately around Takatsuki Station and Takatsuki-shi Station, the two main access points connected by a walkable stretch of streets that effectively become part of the festival. Within minutes of arrival, live music can be heard in multiple directions—inside intimate café settings, from packed live houses, and across outdoor stages that spill into the surrounding city.
Jazz sits at the core, but the program extends well beyond it. Across the two days, hundreds of performers take part, ranging from local amateur musicians to experienced professionals. Styles move fluidly between jazz, fusion, vocal performances, and instrumental sets, creating an atmosphere defined less by genre boundaries and more by discovery.
Because each venue shapes its own program, the rhythm of the festival is constantly shifting. A quiet acoustic set in a café may be followed by a high-energy performance in a crowded bar, before giving way to an outdoor stage where music carries into the evening air. There is no fixed route—only the path you create as you move through the city.
Food and drink are woven naturally into the experience. Many venues double as active cafés or bars, where ordering a drink becomes part of settling into a performance. It’s a system that supports the local businesses hosting the event while keeping the atmosphere informal and open.
Built and run by volunteers, local venues, and participating artists, Takatsuki Jazz Street reflects a community-driven approach to live music. Free access removes barriers, encouraging people to explore unfamiliar sounds, step into new spaces, and engage with performances in a way that feels immediate and unstructured.
Easily reached from Osaka in around 15 minutes, the festival offers a different kind of Golden Week experience—one shaped not by crowds or schedules, but by movement, curiosity, and the simple act of following music through the streets.

ACCESS
The festival takes place across the city center of Takatsuki, primarily between:
- JR Kyoto Line → Takatsuki Station: immediate access to central venues
- Hankyu Kyoto Line → Takatsuki-shi Station: approximately 10 minutes on foot from JR Takatsuki
Most venues are located within walking distance between and around these two stations, connected by streets that form the core festival area.

From central Osaka:
- JR Kyoto Line: ~15 minutes
- Hankyu Kyoto Line (from Umeda): ~20 minutes
Public transportation is strongly recommended, as the area becomes crowded during the event.
SCHEDULE
Takatsuki Jazz Street runs from 10:00 AM on both May 3 and May 4, 2026, with performances continuing into the evening depending on the venue.
Each venue operates on its own timetable, with detailed schedules published on the official website. There is no single main stage or unified program, so visitors can either plan ahead by venue or explore freely throughout the day.
TICKETS
All performances are free to attend, with no tickets required.
However, many venues are active cafés or bars, and visitors are generally expected to purchase a drink or food item while attending performances in those spaces.
INFO & TIPS
Popular venues can reach capacity, particularly in the afternoon and evening. Arriving early or moving between locations increases your chances of finding space.
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, as the experience involves moving between multiple venues throughout the day. Because the event spans the city, there is no single “best” starting point—begin near either main station and explore from there.
