Sakura Food Court Brings Spring Flavors
A limited-time sakura season food court arrives at Expo ’70 Park, offering a curated mix of street food and festival eats in a relaxed outdoor setting.
Set within the grounds of Expo ’70 Commemorative Park, the Sakura Food Court transforms part of the park into a dedicated food zone during peak spring season. Running from March 20 through April 7, this limited-time setup brings together a wide range of vendors serving festival-style dishes in an open-air environment designed for casual dining.
The food court itself brings together a surprisingly diverse lineup of vendors, blending Osaka street food staples with regional specialties and dessert-focused stands. Among the confirmed names are Kobe-based Gourmand, Fukushima’s Koufukuya, the cult-favorite soup curry shop Yellow Magic Spice, and Osaka Nishinari Horumon serving up grilled meats with a distinctly local edge.
Seafood is represented through oyster-focused vendors, while dessert options range from soft serve at mgmg to made-to-order sweets from Butter Crepe Lab.
Visually, the lineup reflects a classic open-air Japanese festival mix — from karaage and yakisoba to grilled oysters and steak plates — balanced by lighter sweets and snack-style options. Rather than a curated gourmet market, the atmosphere leans toward casual variety, encouraging visitors to sample across stalls while moving through the park’s wide-open cherry blossom setting.
The timing aligns with Osaka’s sakura season, making this less about a single attraction and more about the atmosphere — eating outdoors, moving between stalls, and pairing food with a day under early spring skies. While the broader park hosts a variety of seasonal programming, the food court operates as its own distinct destination within the grounds.
With a modest entry fee that includes a drink, the experience is positioned as accessible but slightly elevated from typical street food clusters, offering a more organized and comfortable environment for visitors looking to spend time rather than simply pass through.
