Briny Season on the Bay

Teaser: Charcoal grills, cracked shells, and cold beer in open sea air. The Sennan Oyster Festival, held on Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese public holidays during the winter, brings regional oysters to the waterfront. It offers a taste of the last indulgence before sakura season begins.

For a limited winter stretch along Osaka Bay, SENNAN LONG PARK’s Umi no Marche becomes a briny open-air feast. The Sennan Oyster Festival runs weekends and public holidays from January 10 through March 29, 2026, transforming the coastal park into a hands-on seafood celebration.

This event centers squarely on oysters — grilled over charcoal, steamed kankan-yaki style in tins, or served in curated set meals. Vendors source oysters from multiple regions across Japan, often including Hiroshima and Hyogo, giving visitors a chance to compare regional differences side by side.

Guests purchase trays and cook oysters at shared grill stations, turning the meal into an interactive ritual. Steam rises into open sky while cups clink against oyster shells, and select dates may add extra festival flavor such as stage performances or local sake tasting booths (programs vary by day).

Located near Kansai International Airport, it’s an easy add-on for travelers staying near the bay or flying in for Kansai. For a broader coastal food day, you can also keep an eye on seasonal programming at SENNAN LONG PARK that sometimes runs on adjacent dates.

ACCESS

Venue: SENNAN LONG PARK

Address: Umi no Marche, 2-201 Rinku Minamihama, Sennan, Osaka 590-0535.

Nankai Main Line → Tarui Station

About 10–15 minutes on foot. From the station, follow signs toward the Rinku Minamihama waterfront / SENNAN LONG PARK; the Umi no Marche area is within the park’s seaside market zone.

By car: SENNAN LONG PARK has paid parking, but weekends and holidays can fill—public transport is recommended on peak days.

Hours: 11:00–17:00 each operating day. Vendors may sell out before closing; arriving earlier improves selection and reduces grill wait times.

ADMISSION

Admission is free (no entry ticket). Food and drinks are purchased individually from vendors at the site. Payment methods vary by vendor; bringing cash is recommended.

INFO & TIPS

Dress warmly—this is an open waterfront site and winds can be stronger than in central Osaka. Bring wet wipes or hand sanitizer for grilling.

Expect busiest periods around lunchtime and early afternoon. Dispose of shells and waste in designated bins and follow onsite sorting guidance.
