A Sky-High Light Show
Projection mapping transforms Osaka’s tallest observatory into a glowing nightscape — but only for a limited time.
At the top of Abeno Harukas 300 Observatory, a limited-time projection mapping event titled “What if Osaka got lost in space?” is currently transforming the 60th-floor observatory into an immersive, light-driven experience. Running through April 23, 2026, the installation combines projection mapping with Osaka’s night view to create a 360-degree “space journey.”
The projections are displayed across the glass surfaces and floor of the observatory’s “Ceiling Corridor,” layering animated visuals over the city below. Themes explore space-based scenarios such as the Earth approaching the Moon or Osaka drifting into deep space, blending real skyline views with imagined cosmic environments.
The experience also includes an interactive element: a dedicated terminal allows visitors to answer questions and discover a “planet” matched to them, which is then projected visually within the space.
The projection mapping is included with standard admission to the observatory. As the program approaches its final days, this is one of the last chances to experience Harukas 300 in this seasonal format before it concludes.
