Vintage Treasures at the Spring Market

Three days of open-air treasure hunting

Osaka’s largest outdoor vintage gathering returns to Expo ’70 Commemorative Park this April with 200+ curated vendors, thousands of past visitors, and a spring atmosphere made for discovery.

Set against the wide lawns and iconic backdrop of Expo ’70 Commemorative Park, the Vintage Market – Expo Flea Market  returns April 17–19, 2026 for three full days of open-air discovery. Held each spring and autumn, the market has quickly grown into one of Kansai’s most anticipated seasonal treasure hunts. Since its launch, it has expanded steadily, with recent editions drawing tens of thousands of visitors and earning a reputation as Osaka’s largest outdoor vintage gathering.

By its fourth edition in autumn 2025, the event welcomed approximately 20,000 visitors over three days, with around 150 vendors participating — a number that continues to grow. For April 2026, organizers are preparing for more than 200 stalls, bringing together antique dealers, vintage fashion curators, furniture specialists, collectors, and independent sellers from across Japan. What began as a curated flea-style market has evolved into a full-scale cultural event.

Wandering the East Plaza feels less like shopping and more like time travel. Mid-century furniture sits beside Showa-era curios. Worn-in American denim hangs next to delicate European glassware. Handmade accessories, retro signage, military surplus, ceramic tableware — each table holds pieces that carry decades of stories. It’s a space where decorators, stylists, collectors, and casual browsers all mingle in search of that one perfect find.

Spring at Expo ’70 adds its own charm. Mild temperatures and wide, walkable lawns make it easy to spend the entire morning browsing before settling in for lunch under open skies. The relaxed scale of the park allows the market to breathe — no cramped aisles, just long sightlines and room to explore.

The atmosphere is deliberately easygoing. Families stroll between stalls, coffee in hand. Food vendors serve festival classics alongside specialty drinks, making it simple to linger for hours. With Expo ’70’s wide-open greenery and the Tower of the Sun nearby, the setting elevates the market beyond a typical flea event — it becomes a full spring day out.

As the series continues to grow in scale and attendance, Vintage Market has cemented itself as a fixture on Osaka’s seasonal calendar — a modern heir to Europe’s great open-air flea markets, rooted firmly in Kansai style.
