Sakai Festival
Sakai comes alive with parades, floats, and community spirit in a grand two-day celebration of heritage and pride.

For two full days, on October 18–19, 2025, the city of Sakai bursts into color and sound as the annual Sakai Festival takes over the streets. This lively celebration, one of southern Osaka’s most anticipated autumn events, showcases the city’s history and creativity with a mix of traditional and modern performances.
The highlight of the festival is the Grand Parade, featuring extravagant floats, energetic taiko drumming, marching bands, and local dance troupes. Spectators line the route as neighborhoods proudly display their cultural heritage, making it a true community-driven spectacle.
Beyond the parade, visitors can explore food stalls offering regional flavors, live stage performances with everything from folk to contemporary music, and family-friendly attractions. Sakai’s artisans also open their workshops, allowing guests to experience the craftsmanship of knives, textiles, and traditional crafts.
The festival is not only a showcase of entertainment but also a reflection of Sakai’s role as a cultural and historical hub. With convenient access from central Osaka, it’s an ideal day trip for both locals and inbound visitors to immerse themselves in an authentic Japanese matsuri atmosphere
