Panasonic Open 2025

Osaka’s Showcase on the Japan Golf Tour

The Panasonic Open brings Japan’s top golfers and rising Asian stars to IOsaka this September for one of the JGTO’s most prestigious tournaments.

For Osaka’s sporting calendar, September means more than baseball pennant races and football derbies—it’s also when the fairways of Izumigaoka Country Club come alive with the Panasonic Open Golf Championship, one of the premier events on the Japan Golf Tour (JGTO).

First held in 2008, the Panasonic Open quickly established itself as a key stop on the tour, blending world-class competition with Kansai hospitality. Played in Sakai, just south of central Osaka, the tournament offers fans easy access to see Japan’s best golfers alongside elite players from across Asia. With a purse of ¥100 million, the stakes are high, and a win here is a career-defining moment.

The tournament also has international reach, serving as a gateway for Asian Tour players to showcase their talent in Japan. Past editions have seen breakthrough victories that launched young players onto bigger stages, while established Japanese stars use the Panasonic Open as a platform to solidify their legacy.

The course at Izumigaoka is a beautiful yet testing par-72 layout, known for its tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering, and greens that demand precision putting. Fans can expect drama across all four days, especially at the risk-reward holes coming down the stretch on Sunday.

With September 25–28, 2025 set as this year’s dates, anticipation is high. Expect to see leading Japanese professionals such as Ryo Ishikawa, Hiroshi Iwata, and rising tour talents battle for the trophy, alongside international challengers bringing extra spice to the leaderboard.

For visitors, the Panasonic Open is more than a golf tournament—it’s a chance to experience a fusion of sport and Kansai culture, with local food stalls, fan villages, and an atmosphere that makes everyone feel welcome.

Four-day showcase: (Sept 25–28, 2025): Opening Round, Cut on Friday, ‘Moving Day’ Saturday, and the Sunday finish/trophy.

Venue vibe: Izumigaoka Country Club’s tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkers, and fast greens create close-up drama with great spectator sightlines.

Who’s here: Japan Golf Tour headliners plus invited Asian standouts, making for a diverse and competitive field.

Fan experience: Arrive early for practice range viewing and par-3 tee boxes — best spots for photos.

Pro Tip: Weekend rounds are busiest — arrive early for the best spots; multi-day passes and hospitality packages available.
