Orix Buffaloes vs. Softbank Hawks

Burning Passion

Experience Osaka baseball with the Orix Buffaloes at Kyocera Dome, where coordinated chants, stadium food, and a packed indoor crowd create one of the city’s most accessible live sports experiences.

If you’re visiting Osaka, catching a game at Kyocera Dome Osaka is one of the easiest and most comfortable ways to experience live Japanese baseball. Located just minutes from Namba, the dome offers a fully indoor environment, meaning games go ahead regardless of weather while still delivering a lively, high-energy atmosphere.

The Orix Buffaloes return home to Kyocera Dome Osaka for their next home series on April 12–14, 2026, facing the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. The three-game series opens April 12 at 14:00, followed by evening games on April 13 and 14 at 18:00. Orix enter the matchup at 3–0 after sweeping the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles on Opening Weekend, while SoftBank arrive at 2–1 after taking their opening series. The matchup brings together two of the Pacific League’s strongest recent contenders, with Orix built around structured pitching and timely offense, and SoftBank known for depth and power throughout the lineup. Yuma Tongu, who drove in multiple runs during the opening series, continues to anchor the Buffaloes’ offense alongside Kotaro Kurebayashi, while SoftBank counter with veteran slugger Yuki Yanagita and a deep batting order capable of turning games quickly. Recent meetings between these teams have often been decided late, making bullpen execution a key factor across the series.

The Buffaloes have established themselves as one of Nippon Professional Baseball’s most consistent teams in recent seasons, capturing multiple Pacific League titles and the 2022 Japan Series championship. Their approach centers on disciplined pitching, efficient run production, and strong player development.

Kyocera Dome Osaka offers a distinctly modern baseball experience compared to outdoor parks like Koshien. The fully enclosed stadium ensures games proceed in any weather, while its compact layout, excellent sightlines, and comfortable seating make it particularly accessible for first-time visitors. The location in Nishi Ward also makes it one of the most convenient stadiums in Japan to reach.

The franchise was formed in 2005 through the merger of the Orix BlueWave and Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes, combining two historic Kansai baseball lineages. The organization and its predecessors have produced notable players including Ichiro Suzuki, Hideo Nomo, and more recently Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Masataka Yoshida, who went on to Major League Baseball careers.

On game day, the atmosphere inside the dome builds steadily as fans settle in, with coordinated chants and organized cheering sections creating a rhythm that carries throughout the game. It’s a slightly more polished and controlled environment than outdoor stadiums, but once the game gets underway, the energy is just as engaging.

Indoor Baseball, Always On – Games at Kyocera Dome Osaka are never affected by weather, making it one of the most reliable live sports experiences in the city.

Rivalry on the Rise – Matchups against SoftBank bring together two of the Pacific League’s most competitive teams, often decided late with tight margins.

Modern Dome Comfort – Excellent sightlines, comfortable seating, and a compact layout make this one of Japan’s most visitor-friendly stadiums.

Power at the Plate – Key hitters like Yuma Tongu and Kotaro Kurebayashi anchor an offense built on timely production and disciplined at-bats.

Easy from Namba – Just minutes from central Osaka, Kyocera Dome is one of the most accessible major stadiums in Japan.
