Kamigata Nihonshu World

Kansai’s Sake Spring Festival

Kansai’s definitive sake tasting event returns to Osaka as Kamigata Nihonshu World 2026 brings regional breweries, walk-up tastings, and casual food pairings to the riverside setting of Minatomachi River Place.

As spring settles into Osaka’s riverside neighborhoods, Kamigata Nihonshu World 2026 brings together sake lovers, producers, and curious drinkers for one of the most celebrated celebrations of nihonshu (Japanese rice wine) in the Kansai region. Held at Minatomachi River Place — a vibrant urban waterfront venue — the event runs from midday into the early evening, making it ideal for both leisurely afternoons and festive evenings.

Unlike formal sake appreciation seminars or invite-only tastings, this event is designed to be accessible and social. Attendees purchase tasting tickets and explore booths for a wide range of breweries from across Kansai and beyond. Brewers themselves are on hand to pour, explain, and share stories behind their craft, turning every sip into an opportunity to learn.

Throughout the day, participants can sample styles from earthy junmai to vibrant ginjo and daiginjo, paired with local food offerings that highlight regional flavors. The atmosphere is lively but relaxed — perfect for beginners and seasoned sake nerds alike. For residents, it’s a celebration of local heritage and craftsmanship; for travelers, it’s a rare chance to taste dozens of sake styles in one place without needing reservations or prior knowledge of Japanese liquor culture.

The riverside setting adds to the experience, with outdoor tents and seating areas encouraging conversation and discovery alongside Osaka’s scenic waterways. Whether you’re chasing rare bottles or simply savoring a crisp spring pour, Kamigata Nihonshu World presents nihonshu as it is enjoyed in Kansai — socially, savored, and spirited.

Walk-Up Tasting — Casual sampling with no formal schedule.
Meet the Brewers — Direct conversations with producers.
