Namba Hikari Tabi 2025–26

Wandering Through a Labyrinth of Light

Step out of Namba Station and into a winter “light journey.” Namba Hikari Tabi 2025–26 transforms Namba Parks, Namba CITY, and the surrounding streets into a connected world of waterfalls of light, glowing gardens, and AR-powered illuminations that invite you to wander.

If Osaka has a heart that never really sleeps, it’s Namba — and in winter, that heart glows. Namba Hikari Tabi is the long-running illumination program that turns the entire Namba area into a walkable “light journey,” now in its 14th edition and featuring around one million LED lights across multiple sites. From November 7, 2025 to February 15, 2026, the area around Namba Parks, Namba CITY, Namba SkyO, Carnival Mall and Takashimaya Osaka is lit nightly, creating a continuous circuit of winter lights.

The symbolic core is Namba Parks, where the garden terraces become a layered illumination stage. The famous “Waterfall of Light” cascades roughly 18 meters down the building face, while surrounding areas shift into “grasslands” of light and softly glowing plant-themed displays. New AR effects for 2025–26 appear at the “Shining Tree” area and the “Kirameku Sōgen” (Shimmering Grassland): point your smartphone at designated points and digital flowers or light effects appear, letting you capture a different version of the same scene.

The event spreads well beyond the garden. At Namba CITY’s Galleria Court, a new aurora-inspired object stretches through the atrium, while Namba Parks South, Carnival Mall, Parks-dori, Namba SkyO, and the Takashimaya Osaka store all add their own illuminations, from champagne-gold tree lines to star-themed gates and decorative objects. This expansion is a key point of the 2025–26 edition, with official materials emphasizing a larger, more connected illumination area than previous years.

For visitors who want an extra layer of experience, the “Illumination Diving” AR walk returns in 2025 for its fourth year. Using smart glasses or tablets, participants follow a guided route in the Namba Parks garden where virtual “star fish” and sea creatures appear to swim through the illuminated landscape. The tour runs on selected dates between late November and December, with advance reservations recommended and a separate fee required.

What makes Namba Hikari Tabi different from Osaka’s big boulevard illuminations is the sense of exploration. Rather than one single viewing zone, the event invites you to wander: up through the garden terraces, across plazas, along tree-lined streets, and into department store forecourts. For locals, it’s an excuse to rediscover familiar shopping routes at night; for inbound visitors, it’s a way to experience Namba’s dense energy in a softer, more atmospheric mode — still lively, but wrapped in gold and blue light instead of just neon.

Waterfall of Light: An 18-meter “光の滝” at Namba Parks, one of the event’s signature photo spots.

Garden Illumination: Multi-level Parks Garden lighting with gates, glowing plant motifs, and terrace views over the city.

Expanded Area: New and refreshed displays at Namba CITY, Namba Parks South, Carnival Mall, Namba SkyO, Parks-dori and Takashimaya Osaka.

AR Light Experiences: Smartphone AR at the Shining Tree and Shimmering Grassland, plus the paid “Illumination Diving” AR walk.

Free to Explore: Roughly one million LEDs across the Namba area, with no admission fee for the illuminations themselves.
