Monster Hunter Sound Quest Across Osaka
The Game Scene

Monster Hunter Sound Quest Across Osaka

A citywide subway adventure for hunters and explorers.

Osaka Metro becomes part of the hunt as a location‑based audio quest sends players across the city unlocking monster encounters and story missions inspired by the global Monster Hunter franchise.

Osaka’s subway system becomes part of the hunt as Osaka Metro launches the Monster Hunter Sound Quest, an interactive adventure that sends participants across the city unlocking monster encounters through location‑based audio.

The concept follows Osaka Metro’s earlier collaboration tied to EXIT 8, a campaign inspired by the eerie Japanese indie game that transformed subway stations into part of a location‑based escape‑style narrative. With Monster Hunter — the flagship franchise of Osaka‑based developer Capcom and one of Japan’s most internationally recognized game series — the idea expands into a citywide adventure.

The experience begins with the purchase of a ¥2,000 participation kit, which includes an Osaka Metro one‑day unlimited ride pass and a serial code used to activate the quest through the SARF audio‑AR smartphone app. Once the game begins, players travel between designated Osaka Metro stations where location triggers unlock immersive sound experiences inspired by the Monster Hunter universe — from monster roars and environmental effects to narrated story segments that move the quest forward.

Rather than revealing the route in advance, the adventure unfolds step by step. Each completed location reveals the next destination, turning Osaka’s subway network into a real‑world game board where riders navigate the city like hunters tracking their next target.

While the campaign also includes themed displays, collaboration merchandise, and small rewards for participants who complete the quest, the main attraction is the experience itself: exploring Osaka through a story driven by sound and discovery.

Running from February through early May 2026, the quest offers fans, tourists, and curious riders a playful way to see Osaka differently: not just as a transit network, but as a map of hidden encounters waiting beneath the city.

Subway Becomes the Hunt — Osaka Metro stations transform into checkpoints in a real‑world Monster Hunter quest.

Two Story Campaigns — Choose between the Monster Hunter Wilds or Monster Hunter Stories 3 audio adventures.

Audio AR Adventure — Monster encounters, narration, and environmental sound unlock as you move through the city.

Explore Osaka Differently — The metro map becomes a playable game board for discovery.

Capcom Home Turf — A global gaming franchise returns to its Osaka roots for a citywide collaboration.
