Vintage Market’s Autumn Expo

Crisp air. Classic finds.

Each autumn, Expo ’70 Commemorative Park transforms into one of Kansai’s largest open-air vintage gatherings — drawing tens of thousands of visitors for three days of antiques, fashion, furniture, and retro treasures.

Set against the wide lawns and iconic backdrop of Expo ’70 Commemorative Park, the autumn edition of Vintage Market – 万博 蚤の市 has become one of Kansai’s most anticipated seasonal treasure hunts. Held each spring and fall, the series has grown steadily since its launch, earning a reputation as Osaka’s largest outdoor vintage gathering.  Although exact 2026 dates for the autumn market have not yet been announced, the market traditionally follows a mid-October three-day weekend pattern.

By its fifth edition in October 2025, the event welcomed approximately 20,000 visitors over three days, with around 150 vendors participating. Antique dealers, vintage fashion curators, furniture specialists, collectors, and independent sellers from across Japan converged on the East Plaza, transforming the park into a sprawling marketplace of history and character.

Wandering the grounds feels less like shopping and more like time travel. Mid-century furniture sits beside Showa-era curios. Worn-in American denim hangs next to delicate European glassware. Handmade accessories, retro signage, military surplus, ceramic tableware — each table holds objects layered with decades of stories. Designers, stylists, collectors, and casual browsers mingle in search of rare finds and unexpected discoveries.

Autumn adds its own distinct atmosphere. Cooler air and golden light make for ideal browsing conditions, and the wide-open lawns of Expo ’70 allow the market to breathe. There are no cramped indoor aisles — just long sightlines, relaxed pacing, and the Tower of the Sun standing watch nearby.

The atmosphere is deliberately easygoing. Families stroll between stalls, coffee in hand. Food vendors serve festival favorites alongside specialty drinks, making it easy to linger for hours. What began as a curated flea-style gathering has evolved into a full-scale cultural event — a seasonal ritual for vintage lovers across the region.

As the series continues to grow in scale and attendance, Vintage Market has cemented itself as a fixture on Osaka’s autumn calendar — a modern heir to Europe’s great open-air flea markets, rooted firmly in Kansai style.

A Growing Crowd – Approximately 20,000 visitors attended the fifth edition in October 2025.

Curated Scale – Around 150 vendors from across Japan filled the East Plaza.

Autumn Atmosphere –  Cooler temperatures and open lawns create ideal browsing conditions.

Seasonal Tradition –  Held each spring and fall at Expo ’70 Commemorative Park.

More Than Shopping – A full cultural day out blending antiques, fashion, food, and community.
