Jazz Echoes Through Osaka Castle

Jazz & Heritage 2026

A live jazz showcase set against Osaka Castle’s historic landscape, blending music, atmosphere, and culture in one of the city’s most unique outdoor venues.

Set within the historic grounds of Osaka Castle Park, Jazz & Heritage transforms an a Sunday afternoon at Osaka Castle Music Hall into a richly layered cultural experience. On May 17, 2026, as part of the broader Osaka Castle Festival supported by Daiwa House Industry, the event blends live jazz performance with the historical textures of one of Osaka’s most iconic locations.

The 2026 lineup, led by Osaka jazz figure Mitch and featuring artists including Ataru Nakamura and Hanah Spring, brings a strong live performance draw to the setting. Serving as both musical director and featured performer, Mitch anchors the program with a New Orleans–influenced trumpet style that pairs naturally with the open-air environment.

Joining him is a multi-act lineup that includes MITCH ALL STARS, BLITZ AND SQUASH BRASS BAND, and a diverse group of performers such as 木村充揮, 小柳淳子, and 広瀬未来. Together, they create a rotating, festival-style performance that moves fluidly between jazz, soul, and brass-band sounds throughout the afternoon. The event is hosted by 加美幸伸 of FM COCOLO, guiding the audience through the program and adding a local Kansai voice to the experience.

Beginning at 14:30, the event unfolds in daylight, allowing audiences to take in the full atmosphere of Osaka Castle Park as the music carries across the open space. The subtitle “ジャズと変遷の石場” reflects the concept behind the event—an exploration of how music interacts with history, with the castle’s stone foundations and surrounding landscape forming a natural backdrop to the performance.

Unlike large-scale arena concerts or crowded festivals, Jazz & Heritage offers a slower, more immersive experience. Visitors can settle into the venue, enjoy the performance at their own pace, and experience live music in a setting where the environment itself becomes part of the show. It’s an ideal Sunday event for those looking to pair culture, history, and live performance in one of Osaka’s most distinctive outdoor spaces.

Osaka Jazz Lineup – Mitch leads a multi-act program blending jazz, soul, and brass.
