Since April 13, 2025, the reclaimed island of Yumeshima has hosted the world beneath the soaring wooden canopy of the Grand Ring. Now in its final month, Expo 2025 Osaka–Kansai sparkles as an emblem of innovation, culture, and community. As October unfolds, the stage is set for a grand crescendo—complete with fireworks, final exhibitions, and unforgettable farewells.

A Trajectory of Triumphs

The Kansai Osaka Expo 2025 kicked off on Yumeshima Island in May.

From its launch under the inspiring theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” Expo 2025 has grown into a vibrant fusion of global pavilions (over 80 across 155 hectares), record-breaking spectacles, and cultural connections. The Grand Ring, spanning nearly 2 km and crowned the world’s largest wooden architectural structure, stands as the venue’s enduring symbol.

Ticket milestones tell a story of soaring momentum: after only 9 million advance tickets were sold before opening, visitor numbers surged to 5 million by May 26, and doubled to 10 million by mid-July. By mid‑August, organizers announced that 18 million tickets had been sold, surpassing the break-even threshold and ensuring the event’s financial success.

Pavilion Highlights & Global Flair

At Expo 2025, the Malaysia Pavilion showcased the country’s culture, music, and beauty to visitors.

The Expo showcased several captivating exhibits that embodied its essence.

The UAE Pavilion, with its graceful architecture and immersive storytelling, drew over 3 million visitors.  The Cartier Women’s Pavilion, a poignant fusion of art, architecture, and women’s narratives rooted in Kyoto’s aesthetics, captivated visitors.  Yoichi Ochiai’s living digital-art installation, null², harmonized robotics and mirrored nature, creating a unique experience.

The Guinness World Record was awarded to the Grand Ring, the largest wooden architectural structure, at the 2025 World Exposition.

Beyond exhibits, the Expo also featured record-setting performances that illuminated the event. A 12,300-member marching band earned a Guinness World Record for its impressive performance. A stunning drone tree formation, featuring 2,500 drones, painted the sky with mesmerizing colors. The Global Bon Odori, with nearly 4,000 participants from 62 countries, united visitors across borders, fostering a sense of global community.

From fireworks displays and anime-food fests to Sumo showcases and Japan Day cultural parades, Yumeshima thrummed with energy and artistry, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Japan.

October: The Climax of Celebration

This October, Expo 2025 transforms into a final festival of sights, sounds, and emotion. Here’s what’s lighting up the calendar:

October 8 – Japan Fireworks Expo Finale Show
The Expo’s signature fireworks event, “One World, One Planet.,” lights up the night on Wednesday, October 8. A stunning mix of fireworks, drones, and projection mapping, this show will embody the Expo’s spirit of unity while inviting visitors to contribute their wishes through the official Virtual Expo app.

October 18 – Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks Festival (Special Expo Edition)
Delayed especially to coincide with Expo’s finale, Osaka’s legendary Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks returns on Saturday, October 18 (19:30–20:30). Handmade fireworks by local artisans and volunteers will illuminate the Yodogawa River in a heartfelt tribute to the Expo, blending local tradition with global celebration.

Nightly Through October – “One World, One Planet” Spectacle
Every evening, visitors are treated to projection mapping, symphonic sound, drone artistry, and fireworks. Wishes sent through the Virtual Expo platform appear in real-time, making each night a collective act of imagination and hope.

If you haven’t yet experienced the Expo—now is your moment. If you have—we invite you back for the final crescendo. Let’s close with joy, light, and the promise of tomorrow.

At Expo 2025, Myaku-Myaku and Gundam mingle with the crowd.
