Cat Creators Pounce on Grand Front Osaka

Nyanko Expo 2026 brings cat culture to Umeda

A two-day cat culture takeover in the heart of Umeda. Over 200 creators, interactive workshops, and a fully immersive cat-themed market take over Grand Front Osaka this May.

Nyanko Expo returns to Osaka this spring as a tightly packed indoor market built entirely around cat culture. Taking over Grand Front Osaka for two days, May 2 & 3, 2026, the event brings together more than 200 creators and shops, transforming the venue into one of the largest cat-themed marketplaces in Kansai.

Originally launched as a niche cat goods event, Nyanko Expo has steadily grown into a major fixture on Osaka’s pop-up event calendar. What began as a focused gathering of cat-themed creators has expanded in scale and variety, while maintaining its core identity—direct interaction between makers and visitors.

At its core, the event is a creator-driven marketplace. Independent artists, illustrators, and small brands present their work directly, offering everything from prints and stationery to accessories, apparel, and handmade goods. Many items are produced in limited quantities or exclusive to the event, giving visitors a strong sense of discovery throughout the space.

Beyond shopping, the event expands into hands-on experiences through a series of interactive workshops, where visitors can create their own cat-themed crafts and small art pieces. These sessions add a participatory layer that complements the browsing experience.

The layout is compact and intentionally dense, encouraging free movement between booths without a fixed route. It’s less about headline attractions and more about immersion—finding unexpected pieces, meeting the creators behind them, and building your own path through a space entirely dedicated to cat culture.

Entry is staggered to manage crowd flow. Early access ticket holders can enter from 10:00, while standard admission begins at 11:00. Once inside, visitors are free to stay through closing at 18:00.

Set in the heart of Umeda, Nyanko Expo offers a different pace from outdoor festivals—focused, indoor, and highly curated. With its scale, creator access, and interactive elements, it stands out as one of Osaka’s most distinctive themed market events of the spring season.
